Nautical Insulator Lamp
Wood: Western Cedar
Other: Turquoise Made In USA Insulator shade
Dimensions: Measures approximately 8 inches tall and the base is 5 3/4 inches wide
Finish: Clear Wax
The lamp base was once a Western cedar beam my dad acquired from my grandfather. From whence it originated is anybody's guess. In fact, it may have started out on a jobsite on the other side of the country. Regardless, it had been sitting around for a minute or two and I decided it's minutes were up.
In one of my kitchen cupboards there are several insulators. Two of them were blue. One was a gift so it's special, but I have no idea how I got the other. Paired with the Western cedar it makes a great nautical looking table lamp. The brown cord is approximately 6 feet long with the swivel on/off switch close to the lamp.
Because the insulator has beautiful detail around the bottom edge I did not make the channel in which it sits very deep. The insulator does sit firmly in it's wooden base, but it would not be a good lamp for a table that is wobbly, located in a high traffic area or other place where it would be in danger of getting bumped.
For use with candelabra style bulbs. Always use low wattage incandescent or LED bulbs. One LED bulb is included and is what the lamp is lit with in the photo. Looks like a mini light house, eh?
