Cerused Bat Handle Bottle Opener
Dimensions: 8 ¼ inches from end to end
Finish: Black Stain, White Paint and Clear Acrylic Top Coat
This bottle opener was once a genuine, honest to goodness baseball bat. Unhappily for the bat it made contact with the ball one too many times and it cracked. That’s how I ended up with it. Most people don’t want a cracked bat.
To preserve the baseball bat style I kept the end intact, including some of the original yellow paint, and simply turned the other end down to accommodate the opener. The black and white finish is a faux variety of cerusing. Cerusing typically utilizes liming wax topped with clear wax. I felt the traditional cerusing technique would not hold up under the wear a bottle opener receives so I altered the process a bit, but the look is the same. Also, it just looks baseball-bat-like.
